Why Self-Care Matters

As a parent, it’s so easy to put everyone else’s needs first. But over time, we learn that taking care of ourselves is not just a luxury, it’s a necessity. Balancing the demands of being a mom to three boys, I’ve often found myself in a cycle: wake up, get the kids ready, feed them, do activities, bathe them, and by the end of the day, I haven’t done one thing for myself. What am I teaching them? That it’s okay to always put others first and neglect your own needs. Over the last six months, though, I’ve made a conscious effort to prioritize self-care, and the difference has been incredible.

Being a mom is a full-time job, both physically and mentally. Taking time to focus on yourself not only helps you recharge, but it allows you to be the best version of yourself, both for your family and for you. When you care for yourself, you’re modeling self-love and wellness, lessons that will stick with your kids for life. Recently, I started working out three times a week with a local fitness coach, and I feel amazing. Even little things, like picking up something heavier than I could before, make my kids say, “Wow, Mom, you’re so strong!” It’s a proud moment when your kids think of you as a superhero.

Many moms, like me, struggle with guilt when it comes to self-care, I know I did. Every time I took a moment for myself, I’d think I was stealing time from the kids. But I’ve learned it’s essential. Whether it’s spending an evening in your room reading a book, watching TV, putting on a face mask, or taking a relaxing bath, you need those moments. Even small things like grabbing a coffee and sitting in the car alone or going on a girls’ night out make a world of difference.

One of the self-care routines I’ve added is a simple 10-minute night ritual. I wash my face, do a double cleanse, and then put on an LED mask I won at an annual cousins Christmas party (my kids call me Iron Man when I wear it! Even though it doesn’t give me added superpowers). It’s a little thing, but it makes me feel amazing, and it’s interesting to see how these habits rub off. Now, my boys have their own version of self-care: they put on some music and get lost in their favorite activities, whether it’s building with LEGO, painting, sculpting with Play-Doh, or even playing with slime (which, to be honest, I’m not the biggest fan of, but it brings comfort to my two youngest). It’s amazing how these small changes can have such a big impact.

That’s also why adding Solful Organics to my product line was so important. The products are natural, non-toxic, and safe for the entire family. Self-care doesn’t have to be glamorous. It can be as simple as applying a moisturizing body lotion with our Solful Organics Silk Hydrating Body Lotion or taking 15 minutes for a quiet bath with Solful Organics Serenity Bath Bursts, or Solful Organics Serenity Calming Tub Tea. It’s about creating small moments of peace throughout your day and reminding yourself that your well-being matters just as much as everyone else’s.

If you’re ready to add a little self-care to your routine, you can purchase Solful Organics products through my website at www.pennchiokids.com with free local delivery here in Bradford, Ontario. You can also DM me to custom order a beautiful gift basket, perfect for a special someone who deserves a little extra “me time.”

XO,
Sandra
