From My Family to Yours

Easter is a special time of the year, especially for young kids. The excitement of the Easter bunny, hunting for eggs, and the promise of sweet treats is enough to make any child jump for joy. As a child, my family would go to church on Easter Sunday and we would enjoy a delicious lunch, some homemade Portuguese Massa, followed with an afternoon of decorating eggs and then eating them. I can’t forget all of the chocolate we had, there was so much of it, that it lasted for weeks afterwards.

Now as a parent myself of three young children, I look forward to making this holiday memorable and fun. Here are some funny and heartwarming ideas I thought I would share with you.

Bunny Inspired Lunches. Anyone that knows me, knows I love to create the cutest themed lunches for the boys. This Easter I am using a circular cookie cutter and a fondant leaf cutter to create bunny-shaped sandwiches. You can even use candy eyes and a pink jellybean for the nose to make the bunny sandwich come to life! Add some carrots, bunny shaped crackers, cheese, pepperoni, the list can go on. Use your imagination and surprise your child with a special Easter treat.

Easter Egg Hunt. My boys love Easter Egg Hunts. The excitement on their faces, the giggles while they run around frantically trying to find every hidden egg, truly warms my heart. I do have to put on several egg hunts throughout the day, which can be tiresome for me, but I love it just the same. If your children are older, you can put a spin on it and create a scavenger hunt. Hunting for Easter eggs it always fun, but why not make it more challenging for the older kids. Hide clues around the house or yard that lead to the ultimate prize: a basket full of goodies. Either way, your kids will be entertained for hours.

Easter Egg Crafts. My boys loving decorating eggs. We have also made Easter bunny masks and decorated paper Easter egg shaped cut-outs. There are so many ideas and tutorials online to help you get started, and your kids will love showing off their creations.

Easter Egg Relay Race. This is a great way to get everyone involved. Divide into teams and race to see who can pass an egg from one end of the room to the other using only spoons. You can even add obstacles or challenges. Everyone gets to have fun, create memories and share lots of laughs along the way.

Watch an Easter movie. Finish off the day by snuggling up and watching an Easter-themed movie.

No matter how you choose to celebrate, the most important thing is spending time with your loved ones and making memories that will last a lifetime. Happy Easter!

XO,
Sandra
